Compact holes

Compact hole 1
This hole is just a straight-forward uphill chip with a short iron, but the target is deceptively small.

Compact hole 2
Slightly uphill and usually upwind, a medium to long iron is usually needed to reach this small green, which is defended in front by a deep bunker. The most subtle putting surface on the compact course.

Compact hole 3
This hole runs in the opposite direction to hole 2 and is therefore downhill and generally downwind. As a consequence the main problem is not reaching but staying on the putting surface. A bunker and deep rough await any shot straying right.

Compact hole 4
A valley and a stream separates tee from green on this hole. As a consequence, anything played short of the putting surface will stay short, or may even roll back down the slope. A medium iron will usually be required from the back tee, whilst a short iron will generally be sufficient from the front.
