From the back tee, this is one of the most challenging driving holes on the course. There is trouble all the way down the left hand side, but stray too far right and you will find yourself in the mounds and shrubberies which divided this hole from hole 17, with a difficult second shot over the green-side bunker onto a steep down slope.
The best tactic – if you can manage it – is to aim on the right fairway bunker with a slight draw. Higher handicappers playing from the front tees should not be too adventurous but should just aim to keep the ball straight. The approach shot can be deceptive, due to the narrowness and depth of the green. Be sure to take enough club - otherwise you may be faced with a 30 yard putt!
