The wide expanse formed by the parallel fairways of holes 2 and 17 sometimes give the impression that this is an easy driving hole.
However, a tee shot which strays left into the hummocks and shrubberies which divide the fairways is almost guaranteed to leave a difficult approach from a poor lie on uneven ground. The best line for the drive is to aim at the corner of the right hand bunker and draw the ball back into the middle of the fairway.
A hollow in front of the small and elevated green can make judging the distance of the second shot a bit tricky, but it is definitely better to be short than to be long: the woodland less than 10 metres beyond the putting surface is dark and unforgiving.
